  • WHAT IS NEUROPLASTICITY?

Neuroplasticity, also known as brain plasticity or neural plasticity, is the ability of neural networks in the brain to change through growth and reorganization. Neuroplasticity was once thought by neuroscientists to only occur during childhood, but research in the later half of the 20th century has proven that many aspects of the brain can be altered through adulthood.

JuST IN TIME TO SAVE A LIFE IS A NON-PROFIT DEDICATED TO SUICIDE PREVENTION.

We believe that depression and suicide can be prevented in many different ways — one of which is the reprogramming of the brain. Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural pathways throughout life and in response to experiences. While the brain usually does this itself in response to injury or disease, when humans focus their attention enough, they can slowly rewire these pathways themselves. That is exactly what founder Jessica Greenwalt did and she believes that if she can do it, so can others!

The goal of Just in Time to Save a Life and our partner, Arkansas Foundation for Suicide Prevention, is to create an online program that is free and accessible to everyone in need. The program will be put together by a team of neuroscientists, psychologists, and people passionate about mental health to harness the power of neuroplasticity to fight suicide!

Just In Time to Save a Life Suicide Awareness | Combating Suicide Through Neuroplasticity

Globally 800,000 people die by suicide EACH YEAR. That's roughly 130 people a day, 1 person every 40 seconds.

finding what works best for each person at the right time is crucial when it comes to mental health.

Some may find a unique combination of mental health modalities that works for them and that may change over time as we grow into a stronger healthier version of ourselves. What we like to focus on over here at JUST IN TIME is the power of our own minds. Instead of always looking outside of ourselves we want to remind ourselves of how strong and powerful we still are, even if we don't always feel like it. Tapping into our highest self and taking inventory of our thoughts and responsibility over our mindset is one of the first steps.

  • The CDC reports that the top three causes of suicide are relational issues, substance abuse, and severe stress. To this end, we believe that mental health and suicide can be addressed preemptively.
